GENERAL SAFETY
- Build the first concern of safety in the science classroom every condition.
- Maintain the work area clear and free of movable objects, stumbling (includes office equipment wires) or slip hazard, trash, etc.
- While pick up a load, to assess if you need help or special equipment. Never lift a load if you have any hesitation of your capability to lift it. Use lifting techniques to avoid injury.
- Do not get too high for something that can fall on you. Utilize a ladder, a small set of steps, or ask for help if necessary. If you are using a ladder, make sure it is properly secured.
- Certainly not leave unattended a disguised or unsafe condition, even momentarily.
- Be watchful of on foot surface and their situation. Additional care may be needed to avoid an accident.
- Identify the location of fire extinguishers and know how to make use of it.
Classroom Safety
- Not sit on the border of a chair. Do not sit on a stool or chair tilted back next to the wall. Do not be seated on the desktop students.
- Electrical cords, Chairs, wastebaskets, and other items should not be allowed to become a shooting threat.
- All electrical tools must be switched off at what time not in use.
- The ladder or other approved secure support must be used to get to high shelves materials, bulletin boards or other high-rises.
- Sharpener must be mounted so that it does not stick out.
